Camping Maine et Loire

Looking for nature camping in the Loire Valley without feeling isolated? Opt for the gentleness of Anjou, so often described by our great poets, by staying at the Angers Slow Village campsite on the banks of the Loire. It's here that the Loire marries numerous tributaries to enrich rich valleys classified Natura 2000. It's here that royal families have adorned towns and countryside with breathtaking historical and architectural masterpieces. The Loire Valley has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

Fully equipped tents and camping pitches in Maine et Loire

A top-of-the-range campsite on an island just a stone's throw from Angers, a range of practical services such as bike rentals and a natural pool area - this is the unique offer that sets Slow Village apart from other Maine et Loire campsites. In the shade of fruit trees, in a green setting, your days will be lulled by the gentle rhythm of the river. From the campsite, it's easy to cycle along the banks of the Loire.

Land of backpackers

In Maine et Loire, camping cars and caravans are legion. Around 50 pitches (100 and 120m2 connected) can accommodate up to 6 people in tents and caravans on the river bank. Backpackers looking to get back to basics can opt for our tree-lined Nature pitches, just a stone's throw from the Loire. With your caravan or backpack, with your family, your loved ones or your friends, for 2 nights or 2 weeks, there's a pitch or accommodation to suit your camping vacation in Maine et Loire.

Slow Village also takes you on a journey with its converted tents, accommodation perfectly suited to the campsite site. To wake up as a couple to the sound of nature while enjoying the most comfortable bedding, opt for our raised Bivouac tents with wooden decking. As a family of 4 or with friends, you'll also love our eco-lodge tents with fully-equipped kitchenette, lounge and armchairs on the wooden terrace. These accommodations blend perfectly with the natural setting of the Loire Valley.

Whatever the case, you'll enjoy a luxurious setting during your camping vacation in Maine et Loire, and our eco-responsible lagoon pool fed by a natural pond will offer you all the pleasures of swimming for all ages. You can also take advantage of our bicycle rental service and one of the best geographical locations of all the Maine et Loire campsites to discover the Loire castles by bike!

Maine et Loire, between Terroir & History

A concentrate of history and terroir, the Maine-et-Loire region is brimming with UNESCO World Heritage sites. Loire castles of all periods are legion, including the Château des Ducs d'Anjou overlooking Angers, Brézé with its troglodyte basement, and the beautifully renovated Château de Saumur with its belvedere. The working drawbridge at the superb Château de Plessis-Bourré and the early 17th-century apothecary at Château de Baugé are also well worth a visit. The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, where Richard the Lionheart is buried, needs no introduction. The châteaux of Brissac and Montreuil Bellay are also well worth a visit.

Local crafts and culture can be discovered in original places that fascinate young and old alike: the lively Faluns des Perrières caves in Doué-la-Fontaine, where the sea reached in prehistoric times, or the discovery and escape game in the troglodytic village of Rochemenier. You'll be amazed by Noyant-La-Gravoyère's mining past as you climb up the galleries of the Blue Slate Mine 125m below ground. The Maison d'Adam (15th century) in Angers is home to nearly a hundred craftsmen and incredible collections.

As for nature, in addition to the bucolic strolls along Anjou's wine estates, don't miss the horticultural cocoon of Terra Botanica and the Bioparc de Doué la Fontaine, the world's only troglodyte zoo, where you can wander through tunnels and plant mazes to admire 1,200 protected animals in a sumptuous green setting. Don't hesitate to rent a bike rather than any other means of locomotion, thanks to the many kilometers of cycle paths in the département. And if you're a fan of the Puy du Fou, you can reach the park in just over an hour's drive in the neighbouring département!
