Camping Saumur

Fully equipped tents and camping pitches near Saumur

How to find a comfortable, natural campsite rental in Saumur in the Pays de la Loire region? If you're looking to recharge your batteries while taking in the sights of the Maine-et-Loire region, Slow Village, just a stone's throw from Saumur in the Loire Valley, offers you a camping experience on the banks of the Loire that's off the beaten track. Whether you're looking for a large, tree-lined 120m2 pitch for your caravan or family motorhome, or a 100m2 comfort pitch with electricity for several tents and up to 6 people, the choice is yours. If you'd prefer accommodation that's just as natural, but on a rental basis, the campsite offers comfortable raised Bivouac tents with a large 2-person bed and a fully-equipped terrace. If you're with friends, perhaps you'd prefer our lodges with sleeping for 4, kitchenette, indoor lounge and garden furniture on the wooden terrace. Whether you're in a tent, caravan or camper van, whatever your choice, you'll have access from every campsite to Slow Village's vast swimming pool, complete with fun accessories that children love. Unlike a campsite in Saumur with a heated outdoor pool, here the water comes from a natural basin located near the campsite on the banks of the Loire, in osmosis with our concern to protect the environment. We also offer a bicycle rental service.

Tourism in Saumur

One of the world's great historical towns, Saumur is also surprisingly diverse in terms of places of interest. The Château de Saumur and its belvedere, and the Cadre Noir, the cavalry museum, are very well known, but it would be a shame not to take advantage of combined tickets to see the nearby and superb Musée des Blindés. A vibrant testimony to a military past, it will also give you an insight into the progress of the automotive industry during your camping vacation in the Pays de la Loire.

The Mushroom Museum will surprise the whole family. From "ox tongues" to "hare's ears", this educational and entertaining underground tour teaches us all we need to know about mushroom beds.
After "piloting" the Longué-Jumelles hydroelectric mill, you'll enjoy a detour to Turquant to taste the famous and very old Pommes Tapées du Val de Loire, or a picnic stop around the beautiful Etang de Joreau near Saumur, or on the Ile d'Offard.

History buffs will admire the nobility of the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, sometimes listed as one of the Loire castles to visit, and have fun exploring the underground passages of the curious Renaissance château of Brézé, nestled in the heart of the saumurois vineyards. Finally, try an original visit to the Seigneurie du Bois in Le Coudray-Macouart. With its 16th-century stonework and secret passages, it's an adventure off the beaten track. Also in the area, don't miss a visit to Doué la Fontaine, a 20-minute drive away. To make your visit easier, you'll find a bike rental service at Slow Village.

Camping Montreuil Bellay

Doué la fontaine, Saint Georges sur Layon, Puy Notre Dame and Concourson sur Layon are all pretty little villages, but few French villages in the Pays de la Loire or elsewhere have preserved Montreuil Bellay's medieval heritage. Gates, ramparts, narrow streets, castle - everything here evokes the strategic past of Maine et Loire, knights, jousting and life in the 15th century. With the Plus Beaux Détours de France label and a focus on green tourism and water sports, this is a pleasant place to discover during your camping vacation.
