Where is the Côte des Légendes?

The Côte des Légendes is a small fragment of the Breton coastline located in North Finistère, about 15 minutes by car from the seaside resort of Brest.
It stretches for almost 15 km between the communes of Guissény and Goulven.
It also includes the sandy beaches and territories of Kerlouan, Brignogan-Plage and Plounéour-Trez.

Landscapes and nature on the Côte des Légendes

The Côte des Légendes in Northern Brittany is a wild, jagged coastline that appeals to lovers of nature and wide-open spaces.
As you fill your lungs with iodized air, you'll discover sandy beaches and imposing cliffs plunging into the sea, an astonishing contrast that reflects the character of its inhabitants. Take a stroll along the coastal paths to discover hidden coves and pebble beaches, with distant views of Ile Vierge, Ile de Batz and many other Breton treasures.

This coast is home to three Natura 2000 areas: Goulven Bay, the Langazel peat bog in Ploudaniel and the Curnic marsh in Guissény.
These three protected natural areas are a delight for hikers and birdwatchers, who can use their binoculars to observe rare species of birds in their natural habitat.
Rocks are omnipresent on the Côte des Légendes. They come in all shapes and sizes. If you take the time to observe them, you'll notice an aura of mystery hovering over these huge granite blocks.
What secrets do they hold? Some locals say they are giants transformed into stone. When the weather's fine, the Côte des Légendes is a life-size playground for swimming and a host of water-based activities such as surfing, kitesurfing, sailing, stand-up paddling, kayaking, sand yachting, fishing on foot or at sea, depending on the tides.

Other outdoor activities include climbing, trail running and cycling. Like the rest of the Breton coastline, this stretch of coast is crossed by the GR34 or sentier des Douaniers.
For a few hours or a few days, you can follow the path along the cliffs, sometimes venturing onto the beaches of Finistère.
Whether you're an occasional walker or a seasoned hiker, it's hard to remain indifferent to the scenery of North Finistère.
The itinerary has a low gradient. The walks are child-friendly and you can easily adapt the length of your hike.

The Côte des Légendes takes on a different look in each of the four seasons.
In spring and autumn, when the light is exceptional, it attracts painters, photographers and writers who come here to draw their inspiration. And of course, don't leave without seeing a dolmen!

Here's an overview of the 5 must-see places on the Côte des Légendes to discover during your vacation at the Slow Village Breizh Légendes campsite in Plounéour-Trez :

• Kerlouan: this charming fishing village of 2,100 inhabitants boasts numerous beaches dotted with granite rocks, including the Menez-Ham and Croazou beaches.
  The commune boasts several interesting monuments, including the parish church of Saint-Brévalaire, the chapel of Sainte-Anne, the chapel of Saint-Egarec and the chapel of Croazou.
  Take time out to visit the Meneham guardhouse, once home to the customs officers. Discover our campsite near Kerlouan.
• Markets: these are the best places to buy seafood and other local specialities, and to meet the producers. The markets closest to the campsite are in Kerlouan (Sunday mornings from June 15 to September 15, 9:00 to 13:00), Lesneven (Mondays), Guissény (Tuesday mornings in July and August) and Brignogan-Plage (Friday mornings, late June to early September).
