A large lake in the Landes region, Lac de Cazaux et de Sanguinet is located in the northern Landes region, less than 20 kilometers from the Arcachon Basin.
The freshwater lake straddles the municipalities of Sanguinet to the east, La Teste-de-Buch to the west, Cazaux to the north and Biscarrosse to the south.
The lake, also known as "Etang de Sanguinet", is linked to the Lac de Biscarrosse-Parentis, located just below, by the Canal du Littoral des Landes.
Between the two large lakes lies the petit étang de Biscarrosse.
Lac de Cazaux et de Sanguinet lies in the heart of the Landes forest, and its western shores are just 4 kilometers from the ocean.

With its clear, shallow waters along the banks, Lac de Cazaux and Lac de Sanguinet is first and foremost a popular swimming destination.
Its calm beaches offer a safer environment than ocean beaches for families with young children.
The temperature is even more pleasant for swimming and water games, reaching 28°C in summer.
At the water's edge, you can alternate between sunbathing and relaxing in the shade of a large pine tree.
Swimming is a popular activity on Lac de Cazaux, and can be enjoyed on supervised beaches in Biscarrosse, Cazaux and Sanguinet, including the famous Maguide and plage centrale beaches in Biscarrosse, and the Bardets beach in Sanguinet.
